With each word bespoke to illustrate a memory
all the years and moments summed into this poetry
that breaks your heart to read
Christmas comes and I feel a void next to me
A stinging silence for weeks and months in lethargy
We pretend that the love won’t atrophy
Through those dark cold nights
Cross my name out and wish you never would remember me
Or the times I lied there passed out with you next to me
I wonder how long it takes till we both forget everything
Little fingers tracing letters to our elegy
With each word bespoke to illustrate the memory
Did it burn when you heard aloud
"just please leave before I break tonight"?

The sands of ill repute leave my palette dry
I miss the sweet sips of passing time
these sour words burn through my cheeks
remembering each flavor that the spirits keep
I keep my fingers crossed
wishing for quiet resolve
writhing in this lack of the evening sun
wash me from the corners
of a listless mind
smells of smoke and violence burn my eyes
Seizing thoughts
like Animals twitching in their sleep
turn through another night
another waking scream
I toss to stir and fight an urge
while wringing through the sheets
horrors of decadence
find my gnashing teeth

It’s like I’ve dreamed this dream before
a cycle boundless now is severed
when I started matching keys with doors
We repeat this verse forever
or rewrite the words & truths
on a night in mid-December
I wrote this narrative for you
Moments burn through their succession
linking stars as I gaze at you
the look in your eye smolders embers
on nights we spent some moons ago
There’s a room where we both can meet in the dark
take this hand, follow the path back into the start
keep the secret in clasped hands now that you know

my malice sowed:
I’ll always be on my own
I’ll spend winter on my own
There’s no trust
There’s no love
There’s no place to escape
There’s no home
There’s relief
in bonds to be frayed
another chill that catches you
frozen branches still bear fruit
There’s a light
There’s a hope

in the roots that we laid
belonging here is all unknown
